The Men's College World Series championship is down to its last game. And, either way, history will be made.
No. 3 Texas A&M (53-14) will take on No. 1 Tennessee (59-13) in a winner-takes-all showdown Monday night to determine the winner of the three-game series and — more importantly — the national championship.
Neither the Volunteers nor the Aggies have ever won a MCWS title in the 76-year history of the event. The Aggies had never even made it to a MCWS final; Tennessee last appeared in the final in 1951, when it lost to Oklahoma.
Texas A&M stole the first game of the series Saturday in a 9-5 victory that saw the Aggies take command with a five-run third inning. Tennessee answered back the following day with a 4-1 victory to tie the series, thanks to a pair of two-run homers in the seventh and eighth innings. Which brings us now to Monday.
